Malaysia Week~~~~~

During Malaysia week, I and 20 other middle school students(including two teachers) went to Pulau Lang Tengah which is an island close to Redang. To get there we had to ride the bus for 8 hours! When we finally arrived, our site group went on a small boat that smelled like gasoline. We tried to go to the island on the first day but the rain was too heavy and unluckily our boat was lost at sea. After few hours of boat ride in the middle of the sea, we came back safely back to the jetty. So our group and Mr. Whiting's group had to stay in a resort near there.

The next day when we arrived at the island, we went snorkeling and saw different fish (don't know the names...) and the diving expert started throwing sea cucumber at us. I seriously don't want to touch it again. Later, the 6 shortest boys+girls tried scuba diving. We just went deep as our height and since the water was kind of mixed with sand, we couldn't see anything but broken corals.

For the following two days we kayaked around just one part of the island. Me, Ara and Krithika were on a kayak and we weren't good at kayaking (not even okay~ at kayaking). So, the teachers had to wait for our kayak because we always headed to the middle of the ocean!! Our boat had to go over these huge rocks (shortcut) and no one has ever done it, but of course we did. The waves helped us go over the rocks.

Also we did beach games like rolling the beach ball with your head, moving a polo with a stick and making symbols that represents Malaysia week with stuffs at the shore (like coconuts, piece of rope, ants etc...). We could also jump of the jetty which is twice as high as our height and we caught Frisbees while jumping.

Early in the next morning, we took our last steps in the island towards the jetty. Everyone turned around to see the island one more time on the boat. I highly recommend Pulau Lang Tengah for good diving island because we had more fun and had done amazing beach sport on this island.

Winter Break...(with my b-day)...

Happy New Year, people!!!!! Did you guys all have great winter breaks? My most of my friends went travel to different countries while I stayed in Malaysia. My dad was busy with his work and my sister had no free time since she has to study and my mom said that I can spend time studying during this winter break. The first two weeks, I couldn’t make any contact with any of my friends, not even in MSN!!!!! I really wanted to go back to the school though I didn't wanted to work on projects or do homeworks.

During my free time, I went shopping to KLCC and Pavillion with my mom and sister. This winter break, i think it was good to spend time with family. I had more time talking and playing with my sister since she usually doesn't have time to chat with me on school days.

My birthday was on January 9th before the school starts, I didn't or couldn't do my b-day party with my friends since they are all away. So I did a small family party with awesome chocolate cake, but unfortunately they all FORGOT my birthday PRESENTS!!!!! Anyway, I turned twelve this year and I hope 2009 will be happier, funner, and more exciting with many experiences like Malaysia week (which is coming closer!). and again...(to everyone)!!!

Giant Pandas.

Giant Pandas! They are adorable! I am sure that most of you know what giant panda is and how adorable it is. Giant Pandas have a white coat with black fur around their eyes, on their ears, muzzle and legs. They are about 5 feet long from nose to rump, with a 4-6 inch tail. It eats bamboos for 99% and sometimes they eat fish, eggs, oranges or bananas. They live in mountain ranges in central China. Sadly,The Giant Panda is an endangered species and highly threatened. China has 239 Giant Pandas in captivity and another 27 living outside the country. Also about 1,590 pandas are currently living in the wild.
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) is a community group which actively supports pandas.

Awesome inventions

Don't you feel so much easier in math class to solve any problems with a calculator? It's not just useful for classes, it made everyone's life so much easier. Calculator is one of the most important inventions in the world, you can use the calculator to solve any mathematical problems. The man who made the first calculator was called Blaise Pascal, he made the calculationg machine to help his father's work as a tax official. That calculator could only solve additions or subtractions. So later on, people made a developed calculator which could solve additions, subtractions and even mutilications and divisions. Nowadays, the basic calculator can solve additions, subtractions, division and multiplications and even roots, some of the professional calculators have lots of different programs, savings and it can be connected to the computers, too.

This invention was very important to everyone because we didn't have to solve the mathematical problems with our hands and brains. Like Pascal's father's job (tax official), it took him forever to solve the adding problems while he was working. Now, calculators are used in anywhere such as markets, any kinf of jobs and even in SCHOOL! This invention changed our lifes by helping us solve the problem easily and quickly.

SPCA

I love puppies, kittens and different kinds of animals. SPCA is a place where they take care and cure the animals. A few days ago, a woman who works at SPCA came to show us a presentation about what they do and what we can do to help animals. Since the numbers of dogs and cats (especially dogs) are increasing. SPCA and any places for animals need more supplies to take care of the animals. The students can’t donate huge amount of money like some other adults do, so we could donate used towels, puppy pens, water bowls and food for animals.

There are lots of people who treat the animals on the street without kindness. We saw some humiliating pictures of dogs that had been treated painfully by people during the presentation. The woman said that the government should make the law for treating animals without respect, mire strict so that people wouldn’t treat the animals badly. The people say that they treat the animals badly because it’s cool, but it’s never cool to anyone else. They should treat the animals like they are treating humans. Like all the people around the world have equal rights to live, the animals should have the same equal rights to live safely.

If we adapt the animals, there will be no problem with increasing numbers of dogs and cats on the street. If you want a pet, don’t buy it from the pet store, adapt one from animal shelters like SPCA. THEY ARE WAITING FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!

Little info about me and my shoecase

Hi~~! I'm YJ(stands for You Jin). And you must be reading my blog.

I chose this title because my famous pencil case looks similar to a shoe and it has panda pictures on it. Almost everyone thinks that my pencil case is COOL~!(but not me~). So I decided to call my pencil case "The Great Shoe case". Well no one really calls my pencil case like that but me.

Like everyone else, I like my shoe case. Since I like pandas (real panda and pandas from comic books), my shoe case is awesome to me and everyone else. My shoe case has red shoe lace which covers my dirty pencil case, and I think it best matches with my pencil case. Red is not my favorite color, Purple, Pink, Green and Silver are the best to me. I don't get to have new pairs of shoes like my sister, so I chose my pencil case that looks like a shoe!

Let's talk more about me, shall we? What I like are shopping, hanging out with my friends, listening to rock musics and playing basketball (even though I'm not good at basketball). My favorite thing to do in the school is hanging out with friends but I also like to laugh out loud and scream with my friends. All of my stress goes out when I scream, I think screaming is the best way to clear my mind.
